Sometimes I have a really hard time finding clothes that I like, that fit my style, and I can integrate into my wardrobe. You would think that with basic black it would be easy to find new things, but I’m finding that the exact opposite is true. It started with me wanting to find a pair of shorts
exactly like similar to a pair that I’ve had for about 30 years. They are a black and white print, and I love these shorts, they are my all-time favorites. But every time I wear them, I’m afraid that I am wearing them out, and of course, I couldn’t find a new pair that was even remotely close, so I decided that I would make me a pair. Then I couldn’t find any material that I liked, so I searched the internet and found a site that sold material that at least had some black in the pattern and bought some from them. I ended up with two pairs of shorts and two skirts that turned out really nice, and I’ve worn them a lot, but they just weren’t a replacement for my old favorites.
I had pretty much given up finding the perfect material until one day Al and I were driving out by the mall, and I saw a sign on a store that said “Home Fabrics and Rugs.” I yelled to Al to turn in there, and we went in to check it out. It turned out that this is a store that sells fabric for upholstering furniture and making accent pillows. It’s a huge store and they must have several thousand different fabrics to choose from, and they are all arranged by color. Of course, I had to look at all of them, but eventually we ended up in the black section. Wow! I was thrilled to see all the different patterns that they had, and I picked up two to try out. I used my second favorite first, just in case I screwed it up, and the fabric is so wide, that in addition to the shorts, I got a skirt, too. And I wore it to dinner last night!
