I love the colors of Autumn, and since it’s finally gotten chilly here, I thought that I would give myself a fall manicure. The leaf outlines are home-made decals that I made ahead because I knew that I probably wouldn’t be able to draw leaves free-hand on my nails. To make these, first I drew four fingernail sized leaf outlines on a sheet of paper, since I was going to have two accent nails on each hand. Then I cut a piece of plastic sandwich bag a little larger than the drawings and taped it to the paper, painted a layer of clear nail polish over each leaf, and let it dry. Then, using my It’s So Easy Stripe Rite in black, I carefully traced each leaf and let it dry overnight. When I was ready to do my nails, I gently teased the decal off of the plastic with my tweezers. Then I carefully cut all the excess clear polish away, leaving the black leaf decals fingernail sized with no overlap.
For the mani I painted my pinky with OPI Danke-Shiny Red, my pointer fingernail with OPI I Knead Sour-Dough, and my thumb with OPI Deutsh You Want Me Baby? I painted my accent nails with OPI My Vampire Is Buff. Then, using the brush in the polish bottle, I wiped off all the polish, and with an almost dry brush I painted on splotches of the OPI Danke-Shiny Red, OPI I Knead Sour-Dough, and OPI Deutsh You Want Me Baby? Then while the polish was still wet, I picked up the home-made leaf decal with my tweezers and carefully placed it on my nail. Then I gently patted it with my fingertip to make sure that all the edges were firmly stuck to my nail.
