When we were at my favorite fruit stand a couple of days ago I checked the melon bin, and they had a melon that I had never heard of before – a Canari melon. So, of course, I had to buy one! When I got home, I googled it, and found that it’s mostly spelled with a “y” on the internet. It’s called canary because it’s Yellow! And it’s a winter melon which basically means that it ripens late in the summer and keeps better for shipping.
I cut it open and it turned out to be a pretty creamy color, with just a little green tinge close to the skin. The seeds came out very easily, and then I peeled and cut it up. It tastes like melon – lol – and it is quite sweet, I really like this one a lot.
