Out here in the country, blackberry bushes are horrible weeds. They are impossible to get rid of, no matter how much you try, they just come up out of the ground where ever they want. I have to keep pulling them out of my flower gardens all the time. In the pastures, they grow into huge, tall bushes that just keep getting bigger and bigger all the time. The farmers out here don’t like them in their pastures, they take up the space that could have good grass growing for the cows to eat. Last weekend, my neighbor got rid of a couple of smallish blackberry bushes that were growing in our pasture. Here’s one of them:
A month or so before, she had sprayed the bushes with a weed killer, so that it was nice and dry so that it would catch fire and burn really well. You can see how big it was, at least 10 – 12 feet high, and 30 – 40 feet across, and this is a small one.
It eventually burned all but the green part that the weed killer didn’t get. In a couple of years this will grow back into a bush just as large as the one that she burned.
