Spring Flowers on my Fingernails

I’ve been thinking about doing a spring manicure with flowers, and the more that I thought about it, the more sure I was that there was just no way that I was good enough to actually draw flowers on my fingernails.  But I really wanted multi colored flowers, so I finally came up with an idea.  I would use home-made decals!  So I got out my plastic sandwich bag, and painted a layer of clear nail polish on, carefully painted some flowers on the polish, and let it dry overnight.  Then the next day,  I teased the edge of the clear nail polish up with my tweezers, and carefully peeled it off of the plastic.  Then I cut and trimmed the extra clear polish away from each flower.  Then I polished my nails.

For my thumb and pinky I used OPI Unfor-Greta-Bly Blue topped with Revlon Whimsical, pointer is Nicole by OPI Selena, and accent nails are OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls.  I then topped each accent nail with one coat of OPI Happy Anniversary, waited a minute for the polish to get tacky, carefully placed each flower decal on the nail, and gently patted it down to make sure it was flat and completely stuck to the nail.  For the flowers I used Pink:  Sinful Colors Hazard, Blue:  Sinful Colors Why Not, and Pale Blue:  Nicole by OPI My Lifesaver.  I really like the way that the colors go together, especially the pink and blue glitter in Whimsical, and that the dark blue gives the spring look a little bit of edginess.

About sunflowerswank

After working all of my life, I retired in June, 2011. I try to use my extra time to rest, exercise, paint my fingernails, play with my 9 cats, spend time with my husband, Al, and cook healthy and lower fat recipies for us to eat. I try to use as many fruits and vegetables in my menus as I can cram in, sometimes to the complaints of the hubs - LOL! I am also making over some of my old favorites to be heathier with more vegetables in them, and less fat.
