Chipotle Oven Fries

I Love potatoes, and I really Love french fries, but I hardly ever order them in restaurants because I know that since they are deep fat fried, they are so bad for you.  So to give myself my french fry fix, I tried oven fries.  These are very easy to make, and taste delicious!  Al and I like the chipotle flavor best, but I have also tried regular chile powder and Italian seasoning.  Jut plain with salt is great, too.  And since they aren’t deep fat fried, the clean up is super easy, too!  A big win all around.

Chipotle Oven Fries

2 nice large baking potatoes
1 t garlic salt (to taste, a lot sticks to the plastic bag)
1 t chipotle chile pepper powder (to taste)

Pre-heat oven to 425.  Line a large cookie sheet with aluminum foil, and coat with non-stick cooking spray.  Peel potatoes and cut into fries.  Place cut potatoes and spices in a plastic bag and shake to cover potatoes evenly with spices.  Arrange potatoes on cookie sheet so that they are all in one layer and don’t touch.  Cook at 425 for 15 minutes.  Remove from oven and turn each fry over – I use my fingers, it’s not too hot, and this doesn’t take very long.  Return to oven and cook for 15 more minutes.  Eat and Enjoy!

About sunflowerswank

After working all of my life, I retired in June, 2011. I try to use my extra time to rest, exercise, paint my fingernails, play with my 9 cats, spend time with my husband, Al, and cook healthy and lower fat recipies for us to eat. I try to use as many fruits and vegetables in my menus as I can cram in, sometimes to the complaints of the hubs - LOL! I am also making over some of my old favorites to be heathier with more vegetables in them, and less fat.

Sounds tasty. I sometimes use Old Bay seasoning on oven fries – this would be yummy as well. Thanks!

    • I like to try different seasonings, Italian, curry, chili powder and others that I can’t remember, but I always come back to this one, it’s my favorite. But I’ll give Old Bay a try….
