Al and I went to Surla’s for New Year’s Eve dinner, and it was wonderful. It started with a rectangular plate of butternut squash soup (complete with candied walnut!) and a baby spinach salad with pomegranate seeds, dried cranberries, and pickled red onions. Then a pasta course of gnocchi with shitake mushrooms, followed by the main course. Al had the prime rib, and I had the lamb combo, which was a rack of 4 ribs, and a lamb shank covered with a chopped tomato – rosemary sauce and served on saffron risotto. Wow! Both were delicious! This was followed with a white chocolate and coconut cake and a plate with a piece of nut brittle, a lemon cookie, and a chocolate truffle. Was I stuffed! I brought all of the rack and most of the risotto home with me and ate it in a lamb chop sandwich yesterday, yum!
I painted my fingernails for the holiday and since I was wearing mostly black with some white in my skirt, I thought I would go bright and red – well reddish orange! This is Finger Paints Vermillion $ Painting for the base, and Konad white for the stars. I used Bundle Monster image plate BM21 that I got from Amazon.
