Every other Tuesday is Maid Day. Their little yellow car pulls into the driveway and four or five young ladies swarm all over the house and in about 45 minutes it’s vacuumed, swept, mopped, and dusted, the kitchen and bathrooms are cleaned, and the cat nose prints are off the sliding glass door. Al hates to be here when they are, so we go run errands and have lunch while they clean.
This Tuesday after Al’s normal errands, we researched grocery stores. We almost never get to the Safeway, so we started there. It’s a nice big store, and the main interesting items they had were loads of flavored tortillas and wraps, broccoli rabe, and lamb.
By this time we were starving, so we stoped for sushi, then went to Greens. This
is a small market featuring locally grown, organic produce and lots of vegan and gluten free items. They had a small food counter with salads, sandwiches, and (mostly) desserts – and – a friendly server who tried her best to talk us into getting some! But we were good.
Then we went to Trader Joe’s looking for frozen salmon burgers. But there were none to be had due to issues with their supplier, so we got the fresh ones instead, along with whole wheat buns and a couple of lemons.
